After settling in Jordan in the early 2000’s, I found myself in a photographic desert. Apart from a few studio labs and photojournalists, photography as an artistic medium hadn’t been sufficiently recognised.
To stimulate photography and Jordan as a vacation destination, the Jordanian board of Tourism sponsored a photographic exhibition and competition highlighting tourism in the country.
The following collages were the result of my investigation into the subject. To create the images I used an analog process of cutting and pasting negatives together to merge contrasting elements into an image. The final print was then submerged in Sage Tea.
